![]() ![]() They don't associate the brand name with Crytek, and Crytek's name isn't on the final product. ![]() People often talk about "What did Crytek do after Crysis 3? Hunt, I guess?" HFTR basically doesn't exist in people's minds as a Crytek title. Some of the best people in the UK industry. The team working on HFTR was spectacularly talented. ![]() The people behind HFTR's weather are the same people behind RDR2's weather. HFTR was hugely ambitious for something that released in 2016, and has dynamic weather effects that are arguably superior to 2021 releases. Many people don't even realize HFTR is a Crytek game (yes, the team imploded in 2014 after months of not being paid and were rehired by Deep Silver, but it's the same people who made Crysis PS3/360, and contributed to C2, C3, and Ryse) built on top of Crysis 2's codebase. Never enough to stop people running into a game breaking bug 20 hours into the game and having their day ruined. And it got "fixed", but never as much as people would have liked. It got a really negative reputation for, ahem, teensy issues like being a completely unplayable dumpster fire on consoles for several months, or being full of game breaking bugs. I say this because there is a tendency for people to badmouth HFTR. So if you can get the game+expansion pass on sale it is worth playing. It has three story DLCs which are not particularly long, but are all generally high quality, reverting to a more linear approach to level design that the game should arguably never have abandoned mid-development. Building-based environmental puzzles where you have to figure out how to get inside and activate something, and over the course of the game they grow more and more elaborate. Many of the more interesting design ideas in modern Far Cry games were cribbed from Homefront 2. On a related topic, Homefront: The Revolution is a rushed and flawed game that a mountain of patches could never fully fix, but one with an incredible amount of work put into its atmosphere, environmental design, puzzles - and it's just generally a very interesting game let down in some ways by technical issues and some game breaking bugs. But the crashes have been fixed, and everything else seems to be working as expected. The main issue that stands out to me is the lighting bugs. But for the time being, the Homefront: The Revolution port is now a decent way to play TS2. In case people are wondering, TimeSplitters 2 Remastered was listed in the GFN leak, so it's likely coming at some point in the near future. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
